Square Enix's free RPG debuts this fall

Square Enix's YouTube channel began streaming the opening animation video on Thursday for its new upcoming smartphone RPG titled Grand Marche no Meikyū (Grand Marche Labyrinth).

Grand Marche no Meikyū is slated to release this fall on the iTunes Store and Google Play for free (in-game items will cost extra). Indieszero is developing the game. Gameplay consists of exploring the world to search for new ingredients and making food to level up.

The game's plot centers around a girl and boy who ate a magical fruit that fell from the sky, and subsequently turned into culinary adventurers. Using their newfound powers, the two go off in search for the Grand Marche. To enhance their abilities, they learn how to prepare newly discovered species, and continue through a labyrinthine journey.

The opening animation features the two protagonists along with the three cooking spirits who guide them through their adventure. The short begins with several chefs working in the kitchen to serve customers, and then features the main part of the game: going out to find ingredients. The protagonists work together to slay monsters and serve them as food.
