1st film based on HoneyWorks' songs opened in Japan on April 23

Aniplex of America announced at its panel at Yaoi Con on Saturday that it will stream the I've Always Liked You (Zutto Mae Kara Suki Deshita: Kokuhaku Jikkō Iinkai) anime film on Crunchyroll. The film will start streaming on Crunchyroll on October 4 at 1:00 p.m. EDT. Aniplex of America will also open a U.S. website for the film at a later date.

The film is based on creator unit HoneyWorks' "Confess Your Love Committee: Romance Series" music series, which includes songs from the group's 2014 album Zutto Mae Kara Suki Deshita (I've Always Liked You). Specifically, the film is based on the "Kokuhaku Yokō Renshū" (Confession Rehearsal), "Hatsukoi no Ehon" (The Picture Book of the First Love), and "Yakimochi no Kotae" (The Answer to Jealousy) songs.

Aniplex of America describes the film:

The film, which was released in Japanese theaters this past April, centers on high school students Natsuki Enomoto (voiced by Haruka Tomatsu) and her childhood friend Yu Setoguchi (voiced by Hiroshi Kamiya). Natsuki hopes to confess her love to Yu but is unable to admit to her true feelings, and ends up telling Yu that she is simply practicing how to confess her love to somebody else. While Natsuki hides her true feelings for Yu, she is asked by her classmate Koyuki Ayase for a date. The story features the sweet but sometimes bitter trials and tribulations surrounding young romance.

Other cast members include:

Sota Mochizuki: Yūki Kaji
Akari Hayasaka: Kana Asumi
Haruki Serizawa: Kenichi Suzumura
Miou Aida: Aki Toyosaki
Koyuki Ayase: Tsubasa Yonaga
Hina Setoguchi: Momo Asakura
Kotaro Enomoto: Natsuki Hanae
Saku Akechi: Hikaru Midorikawa
Sena Narumi: Sora Amamiya

Tetsuya Yanagisawa (High School DxD, Blade Dance of the Elementalers) directed the film at Qualia Animation off scripts by Yoshimi Narita (HappinessCharge PreCure!, Beet the Vandel Buster). Maki Fujii (Blade Dance of the Elementalers, Pupa) served as character designer and chief animation director.

The film opened in Japan on April 23.

A second film, titled Suki ni Naru Sono Shunkan o: Kokuhaku Jikkō Iinkai (I wait for the moment that you love me. Confession Executive Committee), will open in Japan on December 17.
