Osamu Akimoto's Black Tiger Manga Launches in December

Kochikame manga creator to publish 4 new manga in 4 different magazines

This year's 45th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine revealed on Saturday that manga creator Osamu Akimoto will launch his new Black Tiger manga in the second 2017 issue of Shueisha's Grand Jump magazine on December 21. The announcement did not reveal if the new manga will be a new series or a short story.

The magazine also revealed the names of some of the characters in the story. The protagonist will be a female gunslinger named J, who has a partner named Doctor. J is armed with a revolver called the Hunting Tiger 55. Weekly Shonen Jump previously described the manga as set in a wasteland where survival is a struggle. The "violence gun action" story will center on a beautiful gunslinger who travels the frontier.

Akimoto published the final chapter of Kochikame — after four decades of serialization — in the 42nd issue of Weekly Shonen Jump on September 17. The manga's 200th and final compiled volume also shipped on September 17.

Aside from Black Tiger, Akimoto is also launching three other new manga. Each of the series were referenced as short stories, and are not necessarily full series.

Kyoto Jogakuin Monogatari -Finder- will run in Weekly Young Jump, and will center on the lives of students at a girls academy on the outskirts of Kyoto.

Mr. Clice will run in Jump Square, and will be a revival of Akimoto's similarly titled manga, which ended in 2007 in Monthly Shonen Jump. Like the previous manga, the action comedy will center on Jim Clice, a Japanese secret agent with the body of a woman but the mind of a man.

Ii Yu da ne! will run in Ultra Jump, and will be a sequel to Kochikame. The manga is set in a bath house adjacent to a police station located in Tokyo's Shitamachi area, and will feature a beautiful foreign woman.
