The official website for the Twin Star Exorcists anime revealed on Wednesday that the anime has cast Daisuke Ono as the character Mikage Tsuchimikado, an anime-original character in the ongoing anime-original story arc "Rettō Ha Ran-hen" (Archipelago Battle for Supremacy Arc). Like Arima, Mikage is a member of the Tsuchimikado clan. He serves and supports Arima by his side. The character will debut in Wednesday's episode.

Other anime-original characters introduced in the arc include:

Yūki Wakai as Suzu, a philosopher-like Basara with an interest in the feelings and actions of modern humans.

Hitomi Sasaki as Sae, a girl Rokuro and the others find during a catastrophe and take into their care. She stays with Rokuro and Benio and calls Rokuro "Papa."

Twin Star Exorcists premiered in Japan on TV Tokyo on April 6, and also airs on TV Osaka, TV Aichi, TV Hokkaido, TV Setouchi, and TVQ Kyushu Broadcasting.

Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs, and also plans to release the series on Blu-ray and DVD with an English dub.

Tomohisa Taguchi (Persona 4 the Golden Animation, Persona 3 the Movie #2 Midsummer Knight's Dream, Persona 3 the Movie #4 Winter of Rebirth) is directing the series at Studio Pierrot (Naruto Shippūden, Tokyo Ghoul, Yona of the Dawn). Shishō Igarashi (Unlimited Psychic Squad director) is serving as assistant director, Naruhisa Arakawa (MAOYU, Outbreak Company, Kingdom) is handling the series composition, Kikuko Sadakata (Corpse Princess, Muromi-san, Devils and Realist) designed the characters, and Itsuko Takeda (Level E, Kingdom) is the chief animation director. Pop group lol is performing the opening theme "sync," and the all-female rock band GIRLFRIEND is performing the ending theme song "hide and Seek." Both songs debuted in the show on October 12.
