Sale of in-game currency ends on November 18

Bandai Namco Entertainment announced on Thursday that it will end service for its .hack//New World smartphone game on December 20. Sale of the in-game currency "kiseki" (pyroxene) will halt on November 18.

The company launched the game as New World: Vol. 1 Ginrui no Otome for iOS and Android in January. The company then renamed the title to .hack//New World in June. The game is the first installment of "Project N.U.," which features concept and world design are inspired by the .hack series. The .hack series protagonist Kite appears in the game.

Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (.hack//SIGN, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Summer Wars) designed characters for the 3D RPG and Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm developer CyberConnect2 collaborated on the project.

In the game, the protagonist — the player's "other self" — appears in the world and meets a girl with silver eyes. Her voice calls forth a secret hidden from the world, and grants the protagonist a forbidden power.
