Amazon's Best Graphic Novels of 2016 List Includes Princess Jellyfish, The Birth of Kitaro Manga

Amazon announced its Best Books of 2016 list on Tuesday, including a list of 20 books in the "Comics & Graphic Novels" category. The unranked list includes the first volume of Akiko Higashimura's Princess Jellyfish manga and Shigeru Mizuki's The Birth of Kitaro manga volume.
Kodansha Comics is releasing Princess Jellyfish in North America, and it released the third omnibus volume on October 4. The manga inspired a 2010 television anime series that Funimation released in North America, and also inspired a live-action film adaptation that opened in Japan in December 2014.
The Birth of Kitaro collects seven of Mizuki's early stories from his GeGeGe no Kitarō manga. Drawn & Quarterly published the volume in March. The publisher previously released a volume collecting some of the chapters from the manga in 2013 under the title Kitaro. Drawn & Quarterly had announced in June 2015 that it plans to publish six more volumes of the manga in English.
Mizuki passed away in 2015 at the age of 93.
