Food Wars! Event Anime's Promo Video Previews Hot Springs Trip

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Anime ships in Japan on May 2 with manga's 24th volume

The official website for the anime project of Yūto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki's Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma manga began streaming a promotional video for the manga's Jump Special Anime Festa event anime on Sunday. The video reveals the story, with Megumi inviting everyone who passed their stagiaire on a trip to a hot spring resort.

The website also revealed a key visual for the anime.

The anime debuted at the Jump Special Anime Festa event on November 27, and will ship on DVD with a limited edition of the 24th volume of the manga on May 2. The DVD will also feature the bonus short video "Nakama Ryō-ban Shokugeki no Sōma: Ukiyo wa Mazui yo."

The event anime has an original story, in which Soma and friends are at a hot springs resort for a day off. The anime features a table tennis battle for Megumi and Isshiki, a fishing showdown between Soma, Hayama, and Kurokiba, and an open-air bath scene with Erina and others.

Hisako Kanemoto played Erina Nakiri for the event anime, replacing Risa Taneda. Taneda's agency announced in August that she was going on hiatus from voice acting to focus on medical treatment for an unspecified illness.

The anime franchise adapts Yūto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki's Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma manga. Sentai Filmworks licensed Food Wars! The Second Plate, the second season of the Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma anime series. The company plans to release the series on home video. The 13-epsiode series began streaming on Crunchyroll last July. The final episode aired in September.

The first anime season aired for 24 episodes from April to September last year. Crunchyroll streamed the first anime adaptation as it aired in Japan, and Sentai Filmworks licensed the series for North America.
