Terra Formars Gets Original Anime DVD in May Adapting Earth Arc

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Manga's Earth arc started in 18th volume of Yū Sasuga, Kenichi Tachibana's manga

The 2017 combined third and fourth issue of Shueisha's Young Jump magazine is announcing on Thursday that a limited edition of the 21st volume of Yū Sasuga and Kenichi Tachibana's Terra Formars manga will bundle an anime DVD when it ships on May 19. The anime will adapt the manga's Earth arc. Sasuga and Tachibana launched the Earth arc in with manga's 18th volume (pictured at right), which shipped in Japan on August 19. With the new arc, Sasuga and Tachibana renumbered the chapters starting with chapter 1. Shueisha published the manga's 19th volume on November 18.

The deadline to order the limited edition of the 21st volume is March 23. The limited edition retails for 3,500 yen (about US$30). The anime bundled on the disc will be about 26 minutes long and is titled "Born to be Guardian Tatakau Riyū." The limited edition will also bundle a bonus sticker.

Sasuga and Tachibana launched the original Terra Formars manga in 2011. Viz Media is releasing the manga in North America, and shipped the manga's 14th volume on September 20.

The first 13-episode television anime series adapting the Annex 1 arc of the manga premiered in September 2014, while the Terraformars Revenge sequel TV anime premiered on April 1. Crunchyroll streamed both series as they aired in Japan. The manga also inspired a two-episode OVA series in 2014 that adapted the manga's Bugs 2 arc. The episodes shipped with the manga's 10th and 11th volumes.

The manga also inspired a live-action film that opened in Japan on April 29.
