Scum's Wish Anime's 2nd Promo Video Previews 96Neko, Sayuri's Theme Songs

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Anime adapting Mengo Yokoyari's entire manga premieres on January 12

Fuji TV began streaming the second promotional video on Thursday for the television anime adaptation of Mengo Yokoyari's Scum's Wish (Kuzu no Honkai) manga. The video previews 96Neko's opening theme song "Uso no Hibana" (Glittering Lie), and Sayuri's ending theme song "Heikōsen" (Parallel Lines).

Amazon Prime Video will exclusively stream the series in Japan and abroad, and will premiere the first episode on January 11, before the anime premieres on Fuji TV's Noitamina programming block on January 12. The anime will premiere on Fuji TV on January 12 at 25:10 (effectively January 13 at 1:10 a.m.), although subsequent episodes will air at 12:55 a.m.

The anime will adapt Yokoyari's entire manga from start to finish. The manga will end in spring 2017.

The anime stars:

Chika Anzai as Hanabi Yasuraoka

Nobunaga Shimazaki as Mugi Awaya

Haruka Tomatsu as Sanae Ebato

Shiori Izawa as Noriko Kamomebata

Kenji Nojima as Narumi Kanai

Aki Toyosaki as Akane Minagawa

Masaomi Andō (School-Live!, Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle) is directing the series and Makoto Uezu (KONOSUBA, Akame ga KILL!, The Heroic Legend of Arslan) is handling series composition and is also writing the scripts at Studio Lerche (Monster Musume, School-Live!). Keiko Kurosawa (Re:␣Hamatora, Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle) is designing the characters and serving as chief animation director, and Masaru Yokoyama (BBK/BRNK, The Lost Village) is composing the music.

Yokoyari's manga is also getting a live-action series adaptation that will premiere on Fuji TV on January 18. The live-action series will also adapt the entire manga.

Crunchyroll is publishing the manga digitally in English, and Yen Press is publishing the series in print in North America. Crunchyroll describes the story:

Hanabi and Mugi are bathed in envious gazers from all around as a beautiful couple with excellent moral conduct. But these two apparently perfect people in an apparently perfect relationship share a secret they can't tell anyone.

Yokoyari launched the manga in Square Enix's Big Gangan magazine in 2012, and Square Enix will publish both the seventh volume and a "volume 7.5" official fanbook on December 24. The manga's eighth volume will have a limited edition when it ships on March 25 with a "premium visual collection."

ERRATUM: Romanization and translation of the opening theme have been corrected. Thanks, Verso.Sciolto.
