Itowokashi, Wagakki Band return for new theme songs; new visual also unveiled

The official website of the Twin Star Exorcists television anime announced last Friday that both Itowokashi and Wagakki Band will return to perform new theme songs for the anime. Itowokoashi will perform the new opening theme song "Kanadeai," while Wagakki Band will perform the new ending theme song "Hotarubi." Both songs will debut in the anime in January.

The anime's staff also revealed a new visual for the anime.

Itowokashi previously performed the anime's second ending theme song "Yadori-boshi." Wagakki Band previously performed the anime's first opening theme song "Valkyrie -Ikusa Otome-."

Itowokashi, a two-man unit, debuted their first mini album in 2012, and "Yadori-boshi" was their first time performing a theme song for an anime series. The unit is made up of Niconico cover artist Kashitarō Itō (vocals) and his former middle school classmate Ryō Miyada (also known as Lefty or LeftyMonsterP), who is the band's bassist, guitarist, and keyboardist.

Twin Star Exorcists premiered in Japan on TV Tokyo on April 6, and also airs on TV Osaka, TV Aichi, TV Hokkaido, TV Setouchi, and TVQ Kyushu Broadcasting.

Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs, and also plans to release the series on Blu-ray and DVD with an English dub.

Tomohisa Taguchi (Persona 4 the Golden Animation, Persona 3 the Movie #2 Midsummer Knight's Dream, Persona 3 the Movie #4 Winter of Rebirth) is directing the series at Studio Pierrot (Naruto Shippūden, Tokyo Ghoul, Yona of the Dawn). Shishō Igarashi (Unlimited Psychic Squad director) is serving as assistant director, Naruhisa Arakawa (MAOYU, Outbreak Company, Kingdom) is handling the series composition, Kikuko Sadakata (Corpse Princess, Muromi-san, Devils and Realist) designed the characters, and Itsuko Takeda (Level E, Kingdom) is the chief animation director.

Pop group lol is performing the current opening theme "sync," while the all-female rock band GIRLFRIEND is performing the ending theme song "hide and Seek." Both songs debuted in the show on October 12.
