The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. Anime Teases Sequel

posted on by Egan Loo
Current late-night broadcast ended on Sunday

The official Twitter account for the television anime of Shūichi Asō's The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. manga teased on Monday that production on an anime sequel has been green-lit. The staff will provide more details later.

The manga centers on a high school boy named Kusuo Saiki. He possesses supernatural powers that cause unfortunate events in his everyday life.

The anime premiered as a "double broadcast," airing in the mornings Mondays-Fridays within the Oha-Suta ("Good Morning Star") program on TV Tokyo, and at night on TV Tokyo, TV Aichi, and TV Osaka. The morning broadcast aired five episodes each week, and the late-night broadcast collected those five episodes and airs them together. The anime's morning broadcast premiered on July 4, and the late-night broadcast premiered on July 10. The 24th and final episode of the current late-night broadcast aired on Sunday.

Funimation is streaming the series with English subtitles as it airs in Japan, and is also streaming an English broadcast dub for the series.

Hiroaki Sakurai (Di Gi Charat, Maid Sama!) directed the anime at EGG FIRM and J.C. Staff, and Michiko Yokote (Shirobako, Kyōkai no Rinne) was in charge of series composition. Masayuki Onji (Kimi to Boku., Aoi Hana) was in charge of character design. The new special musical unit Saikic Lover performed background music for the anime. The group consists of vocalist Yoffy, guitarist IMAJO, and arranger Kenichirō Ōishi.
