Microsoft Studios announced cancellation of Xbox One game on Monday

Game director Hideki Kamiya of Platinum Games commented on the cancellation of the company's Scalebound action game on Tuesday:

As you may have already heard, Scalebound has unfortunately been canceled. I'm very sorry to everyone who was looking forward to this game. Sorry to bring you such bad news at the start of the year. All I can do for you is to promise to keep delivering fun games. I'll work extra hard to never have to let you down like this again, so I hope you will keep watching over us in the future too.

Platinum Games announced the game during E3 2014 as an Xbox One-exclusive action game. The developer intended the game to allow players to control both a human character and a dragon companion to fight enemies in different scales and navigate different kinds of terrain.

The game was originally slated for a holiday 2016 release window, but Microsoft later delayed the game to 2017.
