Game with story featuring over 50 routes debuts this winter

Visual Art's/Key began streaming a "Kagari-chan version" promotional video on Saturday for Rewrite IgnisMemoria, the company's new iOS and Android smartphone game set in the world of the Rewrite visual novel. The footage in the video is the same as a previous video streamed in December, but features Kana Hanazawa, the voice actress for Kagari, narrating the video.

The game is slated for release this winter.

The game will feature a story with over 50 routes never before seen in the main story, and will also feature a menu-based combat system. Players are free to design their team with members from both Gaia and Guardian factions, and are also able to craft items and furniture in Kotori's atelier.

Shinji Orito is composing the game's music, and Maon Kurosaki is performing the game's theme song "Ignis Memory."

The original 2011 Rewrite visual novel takes place in Kazamatsuri, a fictional city where civilization and greenery co-exist. Within it, players assume the role of student Kotaro Tennoji and interact with his fellow classmates Kotori Kanbe, Chihaya Ohtori, Akane Senri, Shizuru Nakatsu, and Lucia Konohana.

Itaru Hinoue (AIR, Kanon, CLANNAD), who recently left Visual Art's, served as the game's project creator and main illustrator. Romeo Tanaka, Ryukishi07 (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, Umineko no Naku Koro ni) and Yūto Tonokawa (Little Busters!) wrote the game's storyline scenarios. Jun Maeda (AIR, CLANNAD, Angel Beats!) was involved with the musical compositions and quality control. The original game was also ported to the PSP and PS Vita systems in 2014, followed by a PS3 version in February 2015.

Visual Art's/Key brand released the Rewrite+ version of the game on PC in Japan on July 29. The game will get a PS4 version with content from the Rewrite+ version this year.

Visual Art's will release the game in the West.

The original game inspired a television anime series that premiered on July 2 that features the same voice cast as the game. The anime portrays a "sixth" route left untold in the game, which tells the story of "that girl." Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan. Crunchyroll is also streaming the anime's second season, which premiered on January 14.
