Illinois' Anime Central Hosts Voice Actor Tohru Furuya in May

Mobile Suit Gundam, Dragon Ball Super voice actor celebrates 50 years in industry this year

The Anime Central convention announced on Thursday that it will host veteran voice actor Tohru Furuya at this year's event.

Furuya has lent his voice to a number of iconic roles including Amuro Ray in Mobile Suit Gundam, Pegasus Seiya in Saint Seiya, Kyosuke Kasuga in Kimagure Orange Road, Mamoru Chiba/Tuxedo Kamen in Sailor Moon, Sabo in One Piece, and Yamcha in Dragon Ball Z. He's currently reprising his role in Dragon Ball Super.

Furuya will also attend Tsukino-Con on February 17-19 in Victoria, British Columbia. Furuya is celebrating his 50th anniversary in the industry this year.

Anime Central is being held at the Hyatt O'Hare and the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois on May 19-21. The event is hosting its 20th anniversary this year. Other confirmed guests include Excel Saga anime director Shinichi Watanabe ("Nabeshin"), Takeshi Kunitomo of the GOUK fashion brand, author Helen McCarthy, and voice actors Tony Oliver, Micah Solusod, and John Swasey.
