Fate/Grand Order Chaldea Ace Magazine Ships on April 15

posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Issue includes features with Kinoko Nasu, Takashi Takeuchi, Aruko Wada, Ototsugu Konoe

The official Twitter account of Kadokawa's Comptiq magazine revealed on Wednesday that the Fate/Grand Order Chaldea Ace magazine will ship on April 15. The tweet also revealed details of the contents of the magazine.

The issue will include a question and answer section with Fate/Grand Order illustrators Aruko Wada (Fate/Extra character designs) and Ototsugu Konoe (Fate/Apocrypha novel illustrations, Fate/Prototype character designs). The issue will feature the "Eirei Denshō ~Jing Ke~" and "Eirei Denshō ~Elena Blavatsky~" text stories with separate authors. The issue will also include a Fate history section, Servant hero biographies, a Chaldea four seasons illustration collection, and manga by various artists.

Kadokawa previously revealed that Konoe is providing an original illustration for the issue's cover. The magazine's opening feature will be a conversation with Fate franchise writer and the Fate/Grand Order game's co-writer Kinoko Nasu, franchise character designer Takashi Takeuchi, and Nobunaga Shimazaki, voice of Ritsuka.

The magazine will bundle the 70-minute "Eirei Denshō Ibun ~Edmond Dantès~" drama CD. The original Fate/Grand Order game's co-writer Hikaru Sakurai and supervisor Nasu are working on the drama CD. The voice roles include Shimazaki as the Count of Monte Cristo, Katsunosuke Hori as Abbé Faria, Ai Kakuma as Concetta, Sayaka Senbongi as Ede, and Shouto Kashii as Father Angelo Braga.

Kadokawa's Comptiq Ace has previously published special issues for the Fate franchise under the title Type-Moon Ace. The latest issue shipped last April. The editorial department for Type-Moon Ace is working on Fate/Grand Order Chaldea Ace.

The 74-minute Fate/Grand Order: First Order television special debuted on December 31. Aniplex of America, Crunchyroll, and Daisuki streamed the special the same day.

The anime adapts TYPE-MOON's smartphone role-playing game Fate/Grand Order. Aniplex of America describes the story:

The year 2015 CE.
The last era in which magecraft still thrived.

The Chaldea Security Organization was founded to focus on preserving the continuation of human history. They observe a world which magecraft couldn't observe and science couldn't measure all to prevent the certain extinction of humanity.
But one day, the future that Chaldea continued to observe disappears and humanity's extinction in 2017 becomes clear. Rather, it had already happened.

The cause seems to be related to Fuyuki, a provincial town in Japan, in the year 2004 CE. There, an "unobservable region" that had not existed before appears.

Based on the assumption that Fuyuki is the reason for humanity's extinction, Chaldea issues an order to explore, investigate, and possibly destroy this singularity – a quest for the Holy Grail, the Grand Order.

The anime special is actually part of a longer year-end special, Fate Project Ōmisoka TV Special ~First & Next Order~ (Fate Project New Year's Eve TV Special ~First & Next Order~).

The game has been downloaded over 7 million times since it launched on Android and iOS devices in summer 2015.
