Compile Heart had been teasing the game with a countdown site that featured a teaser visual asking visitors to answer the question: "Breasts or Butts?" Visitors could cast their vote until Sunday and the winning side affected the site's top image (Note: the linked site may not be safe for work).

Compile Heart released the latest game in the Genkai Tokki franchise, Genkai Tokki: Seven Pirates, for the PS Vita on August 4. Other games in the franchise include Genkai Tokki: Monster Monpiece (January 2013), Genkai Tokki: Moero Chronicle (May 2014), and Genkai Tokki: Moero Crystal (September 2015).
