"1st animated live documentary variety program" stars Minori Suzuki, Emiri Iwai

A booth at the AnimeJapan 2017 event revealed the Live Animation Heart x Algorhythm "virtual idol project" on Saturday. The project is a Japanese-Chinese co-production. The project will debut this summer simultaneously in Japan and China.

A flyer at AnimeJapan 2017 for the project describes it as the "first animated live documentary variety program." The AnimeJapan 2017 booth for the project is hosting technology demonstrations featuring the project's two characters.

KEI designed the two main characters pictured above. Voice actresses Minori Suzuki (Macross Delta's Freya) and Emiri Iwai (Love Live! Sunshine!!, Girlish Number) will appear in the project. Suzuki will play the virtual idol Kirin (with pink hair pictured above) and Iwai will play Sai (blue hair above).

The virtual idol Kirin is a native Japanese speaker, and she loves Japanese culture. She is passionate and hates to lose. The virtual idol Sai is a native Chinese speaker, and she loves Chinese culture. She is quiet and does things at her own pace.

The project will stream on Niconico and on two Chinese streaming sites.

Minarai Diva (Diva-in-Training), an anime series animated with the MikuMikuDance software and motion-capture technology, aired in Japan in summer 2014. The staff of the project promoted the show as the first ever live anime program. The lines and songs of the characters were performed live, along with their movements through motion-capture technology.
