Exclusive: Dark Horse's Berserk Manga Release Has 1.2 Million Copies in Print

posted on by Karen Ressler

Dark Horse Comics told ANN on Monday that it has sold 1.2 million copies of Kentarou Miura's Berserk manga.

As of 2015, the series had more than 27 million copies in print in Japan and eight million copies in print in other countries, including the United States, Italy, Germany, Spain, France, Brazil, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Thailand.

Dark Horse began releasing the series in 2003, and the company will release the 38th volume on July 5, 2017. It will be the first new volume in more than three years — the 37th volume shipped in December 2013. In Japan, Hakusensha published the 37th volume in March 2013 and the 38th and most recent volume last June.

The manga launched in 1989 and is ongoing in Japan. The manga was adapted into a television anime series in 1997, as well as an anime film trilogy from 2012 to 2013. A new television anime series premiered in Japan in July 2016, and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired. The anime's next arc will premiere on April 7.
