Fire Emblem Heroes Adds 4 More Fire Emblem Echoes Characters

Celica, Boey, Mae, and Genny join game alongside story update

Nintendo began streaming a trailer that showcases four additional characters and the new "Rites of Shadow" story chapter for its Fire Emblem Heroes smartphone game on Friday. The new characters Celica, Boey, Mae, and Genny are from Fire Emblem Echoes -Shadows of Valentia-, which Nintendo is releasing for the Nintendo 3DS in North America and Europe on May 19.

This will be Nintendo's sixth batch of new characters since Fire Emblem Heroes launched on February 2. Four more characters from Fire Emblem Echoes joined the game in an April 14 update. The most recent update, "World of Radiance," added the smartphone game's first characters for Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, and was the first update to add a new story chapter instead of a new paralogue chapter.

In the game, players take on the role of a summoner that can summon heroes from previous Fire Emblem games. The characters have new illustrations from a variety of artists and newly recorded voice-overs. Like the main games in the Fire Emblem series, Fire Emblem Heroes features tactical battles where the player commands an army. In addition to the main quest, the game offers a training mode for leveling up the characters.

Nintendo hosted a "Choose Your Legends" campaign where players voted for their favorite hero. Nintendo plans to add special versions of the top-ranked hero and heroine, Ike and Lyn.
