Staff Replaces Comedian Galigali Galixon's Scene in Live-Action Gintama Film

Comedian was arrested, released earlier this month for driving under the influence

A public relations official for TV Tokyo revealed on Thursday that the staff of the live-action film adaptation of Hideaki Sorachi's Gintama manga is replacing the scene (or scenes) in which comedian Galigali Galixon appears in the film. TV Tokyo is an investor in the film.

Galixon was arrested and released on May 12 for driving under the influence. Warner Bros. Japan then revealed a few days later that it was "considering what action to take" regarding his role in the film.

A source for newspaper Sponichi Annex claimed that while Galixon's part doesn't have many lines throughout the movie, the comedian would be recognizable in the role. Sponichi Annex reported on Thursday that the film's opening release date won't change.

The film will open in Japan on July 14.

Yūichi Fukuda (live-action HK/Hentai Kamen, Mr. Nietzsche in the Convenience Store) is directing the film, as well as penning the script. UVERworld (Blue Exorcist, The Heroic Legend of Arslan) is performing the film's theme song "DECIDED."
