Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine Launches 2 New Manga This Month

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins

This year's 27th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is revealing on Monday that it will debut two new manga series in the magazine this month. Takuma Yokota (Straighten Up! Welcome to Shika High's Competitive Dance Club) will launch the Shūdan! soccer manga in the magazine's 28th issue on June 12, and Tsunehiro Date (Tokyo Wonder Boys) will launch the Cross Account manga in the 29th issue on June 19.

Shūdan! will feature on the cover of the 28th issue, and the first chapter will have an opening color page and 54 total pages. The manga will tell a story of a young man growing up into adulthood in the "soccer kingdom" of Shizuoka.

Cross Account will tell the modern day story of the crossing fates of a young man and a young woman who were never supposed to meet.

Yokota launched the 10-volume Straighten Up! Welcome to Shika High's Competitive Dance Club (Sesuji wo Pin! to - Shikakō Kyōgi Dance-bu e Yōkoso) ballroom dancing manga (pictured above right) in Weekly Shonen Jump in May 2015, and ended the series in February.

Viz Media's digital version of Weekly Shonen Jump debuted the manga on the same day it launched in Japan, and published the first three chapters in English as part of its "Jump Start" initiative.

Date and Kento Shimoyama published the one-volume Tokyo Wonder Boys soccer manga in Weekly Shonen Jump from March through May 2014.
