Monster Hunter XX Switch Version Previewed in Ad

posted on by Rai Kelly
Game ships on August 25

The official CAPCOM YouTube channel began streaming an ad on Thursday previewing its upcoming release of Monster Hunter XX (pronounced as "Double Cross") for Nintendo Switch. The video showcases the game being played on the Switch as a handheld and a larger television screen. It also shows Switch players battling with Nintendo 3DS players over the internet.

The Nintendo Switch version will ship in Japan on August 25. The 3DS version shipped in Japan on March 18.

The game will have 1080p support for the Switch version for TVs, and 720p support for the portable screen version. The Switch version will also allow for local and internet multiplayer with other Switch players, and internet multiplayer with 3DS players. The Switch and original Nintendo 3DS versions will have internet cross-save functionality.

Additionally, the Nintendo 3DS version of the game is getting an internet multiplayer patch that allows 3DS players to play with other 3DS players or Switch players. The Nintendo 3DS version of the game allows those who have save data from Monster Hunter X (pronounced "Cross") to transfer their save data to Monster Hunter XX. Additionally, those who have save data from Monster Hunter Stories also received a special bonus in the Nintendo 3DS version.

Monster Hunter XX features a new "Style Power-up," which allows players to designate a Hunting Art as an "SP Art," granting benefits to the whole party on activation. The game also includes a new new Brave Style, a new field called "Igunrei" and a new "Ryūshikisen" base. The game features six main monsters, including: Gammoth, Astalos, Mizutsune, and Glavenus, and the new main monsters Balfarc and a new Diablos variant.

CAPCOM released the Monster Hunter X Nintendo 3DS game in Japan in November 2015. Nintendo released the game on last July in the West under the title Monster Hunter Generations. CAPCOM will also release its Monster Hunter Stories Nintendo 3DS game in the West this fall.
