Crunchyroll's Santa Clara event to take place August 25-27

Anime News Network's coverage of Anime Expo 2017 is sponsored by Aniplex and Yen Press.

Crunchyroll announced at its Anime Expo panel on Sunday that it will host illustrator Yoshitaka Amano and animator Hiroshi Shimizu at its first Crunchyroll Expo event in August.

Amano is most well known for his contributions to Vampire Hunter D and the Final Fantasy series, as well as his collaboration with English graphic novelist Neil Gaiman on Sandman: The Dream Hunters. He has been in the anime industry since he was 15, when he joined the veteran studio Tatsunoko Production, and has contributed to many anime and video game projects. He is also attending Anime Expo.

Shimizu began as an animator at Studio Ghibli, where he worked on Porco Rosso, Princess Mononoke, and Only Yesterday, among other films. He moved on to work as a freelance animator at a number of studios, contributing to anime such as Jin-Roh - The Wolf Brigade, FLCL, Millennium Actress, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and Fullmetal Alchemist. He served as character designer on Michiko & Hatchin, Funassyi no Funafunafuna Biyori, and Crunchyroll and LeSean Thomas' upcoming short anime "Children of Ether."

In addition, Crunchroll announced that it will host Final Fantasy XV voice actors Ray Chase, Max Mittelman, Adam Croasdell, Chris Parson, as well as Youtuber Gigguk.

Crunchyroll Expo will be held on August 25-27 at Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, California.
