Princess Jellyfish editor Yumi Sukemune to also attend event

The official website for Comic-Con International is listing that the convention will host a panel for the Resident Evil: Vendetta CG-animated film featuring executive producer Takashi Shimizu (Ju-on, live-action Kiki's Delivery Service), director Takanori Tsujimoto (The Next Generation -Patlabor-, Ultraman X), and CAPCOM supervisor Hiroyuki Kobayashi (Resident Evil: Damnation, Resident Evil: Degeneration).

The film screened in theaters in the United States and Canada on June 19 for one night only, and also screened at Anime Expo last weekend. The Blu-ray Disc and DVD release is slated for July 18.

The film, based on CAPCOM's Resident Evil (Biohazard) horror game franchise, opened in Japanese theaters on May 27. The film is the third CG-animated film for the franchise, after 2008's Resident Evil: Degeneration and 2012's Resident Evil: Damnation.

Comic-Con International is also listing that it will host a panel for the Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars, the new CG-animated sequel to the 1997 film Starship Troopers. The panel will feature director Shinji Aramaki, producer Joseph Chou, co-director Masaru Matsumoto, and actor Casper Van Dien. The film will screen in the United States for one night on August 21.

Ed Neumeier, the screenwriter for the 1997 film, is returning to write the screenplay for the new sequel. Casper Van Dien and Dina Meyer will reprise their roles as Johnny Rico and Dizzy Flores, respectively. Comedian DeRay Davis, a fan of Starship Troopers, will also have a role in the film.

Kodansha Comics' panel at the convention will also feature as a special guest Yumi Sukemune, the editor for Akiko Higashimura's Princess Jellyfish manga. Sukemune also attended Anime Expo.

Comic-Con International will also screen the first episode of the third season of Voltron: Legendary Defender.

Comic-Con International takes place on July 20-23 at the San Diego Convention Center with a preview night on July 19. The convention will also host the awards ceremony for the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards on July 21.
