Dallas anime convention AnimeFest announced on June 20 that it will screen Signal.MD's Ancien and the Magic Tablet anime film, as well as Science SARU's Lu over the wall and The Night is Short Walk On, Girl anime films.

Signal.MD staff members, including writer and director Kenji Kamiyama, animation director Motonobu Hori, mechanical designer Shigeto Koyama, creature designer Christophe Ferreira, and producer Yoshiki Sakurai are attending the convention. They will give an introduction to the film before the screening.

Science SARU staff, including director Masaaki Yuasa and producer Eunyoung Choi, are attending the convention.

Ancien and the Magic Tablet opened in Japan on March 18 in 232 theaters nationwide, and ranked #9 in the Japanese box office in its opening weekend. The film will screen in 40 countries and regions worldwide. GKIDS has licensed the film for the United States. The New York International Children's Film Festival (NYICFF) screened the film on March 19 in Japanese with English subtitles.

Lu over the wall opened in Japan on May 19, and won the top "Cristal for a Feature Film" award at the Annecy International Film Festival last month.

Night is Short, Walk On Girl opened in Japan on April 7. The film adapts Tomihiko Morimi's (The Eccentric Family, The Tatami Galaxy) novel of the same name.

Anime Limited licensed all three films for the United Kingdom, and will screen The Night is Short Walk On, Girl on September 20, and Lu over the wall on December 6.

The main staff of The Tatami Galaxy anime returned for the film. Yuasa directed the film at his Science SARU studio, and Makoto Ueda wrote the script. Yūsuke Nakamura, the cover artist for the original novel as well as The Tatami Galaxy, designed the characters. Michiru Oshima composed the music.

AnimeFest 2017 will be held at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel from August 17-20. The convention's guests also include director Sayo Yamamoto, co-creator Mitsurou Kubo, and character designer and animation director Tadashi Hiramatsu from the Yuri!!! on Ice television anime, as well as voice actress Atsumi Tanezaki, scriptwriter Dai Sato, and rock band LM.C.
