Hunter x Hunter Manga Goes on Hiatus With Plans to Return By End of Year

This year's 40th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump is revealing on Monday that Yoshihiro Togashi is putting his Hunter X Hunter manga on hiatus. However, Togashi reveals in the author comments in the same issue that he plans to resume the manga before the end of the year.
The manga had resumed from a one-year hiatus on June 26. The manga had been on a two-year hiatus since 2014's combined 37th/38th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump in August 2014. What was initially a two-week hiatus for the author's serious lower back pain extended until April 2016.
Shueisha also published the manga's 34th compiled book volume (seen right) on June 26. Before that, the manga's 33rd volume shipped in June 2016. The 33rd volume was, at the time of its publication, the first compiled volume for the manga since December 2012. Viz Media released the 33rd volume in North America on March 7.
