NisiOisin, Hikaru Nakamura's Juni Taisen Novel Gets Sequel Book in December

Viz Media to release original novel on October 10, anime currently airing

The November issue of Shueisha's Jump Square magazine revealed on Wednesday that NisiOisin and Hikaru Nakamura's Juni Taisen - Zodiac War novel is getting a sequel novel titled Jūni Taisen Tai Jūni Taisen (Zodiac War Versus Zodiac War) on December 12. The magazine includes a preview chapter from the new novel.

Viz Media licensed the original novel, and will ship the book on October 10. It describes the story:

Twelve warriors enter a death match, but only one can survive to win the ultimate prize.

Rampage. Weep. Kill. Every 12 years, the 12 signs of the Chinese zodiac take the form of warriors and engage in the ultimate battle royal. They face one another in battles to the death, using all the powers of their star signs, and the sole survivor is granted the ultimate prize—a wish. Any wish.

NisiOisin (Monogatari Series, Medaka Box) and Nakamura (Saint Young Men, Arakawa Under the Bridge) published the novel in May 2015. Graphinica is adapting the series into a currently-airing television anime, which debuted its "first 12-episode season" on Tuesday. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime as it airs in Japan.

NisiOisin and Nakamura previously collaborated on the one-shot manga "Dōshitemo Kanaetai Tatta Hitotsu no Negai to Wari to Sōdemonai 99 no Negai" (The only wish I want granted by all means is comparable to 99 wishes) in Shueisha's Young Jump magazine in January 2015. The stories of the one shot and Jūni Taisen are connected.

A manga adaptation by Akira Akatsuki (Medaka Box, Luger Code 1951) launched on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ app and website on September 23. Viz Media is publishing the manga for free on its website.
