Capcom Reports Increase in Sales for 2nd Quarter

Resident Evil 7 ships 4 million copies

CAPCOM published on Monday its consolidated financial results for the second quarter of the current fiscal year ending on March 31, 2018. The report covers the period from April 1 to September 30. The company reported sales of 33.729 billion yen (about US$296 million), a 17.6% increase from the same period last year.

CAPCOM reported an operating profit of 5.001 billion yen (US$43.9 million), a 191.5% increase from last year, and an ordinary income of 5.016 billion yen (US$44.1 million), an 875.5% increase. In addition, CAPCOM reported 3.481 billion yen (US$30.5) in net income for shareholders during the period, a 757.5% increase from the same period last year.

The total sales included 20.138 billion yen from digital contents, 5.179 billion yen from amusement establishments, 7.330 billion yen from amusement machinery, and 1.080 billion yen from other industries.

The company's release of Marvel vs. CAPCOM: Infinite and the Nintendo Switch port of Monster Hunter XX fell during this period. CAPCOM noted in its results briefing that Resident Evil 7: biohazard, which launched during the last period, has shipped more than 4 million copies. As of February, the game had shipped 3 million copies worldwide.

CAPCOM updated its sales forecast for the current fiscal year to 93 billion yen (about US$816.9 million).
