1985 2-player competitive game's remake shipped in Japan in September

Publisher Dispatch Games announced on Wednesday that it will release City Connection's remake of the Penguin Wars (Pengin-kun Gira Gira Wars) arcade game in the West in early 2018. Dispatch Games will release the game on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox 360, and is planning a simultaneous release in the United States and Europe.

The company began streaming a trailer for the Switch version of the game on Wednesday.

In the original game, two players attempted to send balls as fast as possible to each other's side in an attempt to win the game by either sending 10 balls to their opponent's side, or having more balls on the opponent's side when time runs out. Players are able to temporarily stun their opponent by hitting them with a ball. Players could also choose between characters with different capabilities. The remake adds new graphics, music, and additional game modes.

City Connection released the remake in Japan on the Nintendo Switch only on September 21. The original game debuted at arcades in Japan in 1985, and also received a Famicom (NES) version in the same year.
