New Manga by Project ARMS Writer Reveals Visual, New Title, Story

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
New manga centers on emotionless detective solving murders at stadium

This year's 52nd issue of Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine revealed the new title, visual, and story for writer Kyoichi Nanatsuki and artist Teppei Sugiyama's upcoming manga series on Wednesday. The manga is now titled Tantei Zeno to Nanatsu no Satsujin Misshitsu (Detective Zeno and the Seven Closed Room Murders, right visual in image below). The manga's previous tentative title was similar, but with a different name for the protagonist of "Nemo." The manga will debut in the magazine's first 2018 issue on December 29.

The manga's story begins with a murder that took place at a stadium. Appearing on the scene is the detective Zeno, who is famed for having solved a number of murders in barely a year. The detective, who always solves his case with an emotionless expression, hides a secret.

Nanatsuki (Project ARMS) and illustrator Kyung-Il Yang (Blade of the Phantom Master, Defense Devil) launched their Area D - Inōryōiki manga in 2012, and ended the series in January 2016. Shogakukan published the 14th and final volume in February 2016.

Nanatsuki published the Project ARMS manga with artist Ryōji Minagawa in Weekly Shonen Sunday from 1997 to 2002. Viz Media released the 22-volume manga in English in 2003-2009.

The manga inspired a 26-episode television anime series in 2001, and a 26-episode sequel series titled Project ARMS: The 2nd Chapter aired in 2001-2002. Viz Media released the first season on DVD in 2002-2004, and released the second season on DVD in 2004-2005. Discotek Media relicensed both anime seasons earlier this year, and plans to release them on DVD with Japanese audio and English subtitles and an English dub.
