Tsundere Romantic Comedy Manga Akkun to Kanojo Gets Anime

Waka Kakitsubata's story of harsh, stalker boy & his girlfriend

The wraparound jacket band on Waka Kakitsubata's 7th Akkun to Kanojo (Akkun and His Girlfriend) manga volume announced on Monday that an anime adaptation of the manga has been green-lit.

Kakitsubata drew a sketch to celebrate the anime news:

The romantic comedy follows the everyday life of an extremely tsundere (initially aloof and abrasive, but later kind-hearted) boy named Atsuhiro "Akkun" Kagari and his girlfriend Non "Nontan" Katagiri. Akkun's behavior is harsh towards Nontan with verbal abuse and neglect, but he actually is head-over-heels for her and habitually acts like a stalker by tailing her or eavesdropping. Nontan is oblivious to Akkun's stalker ways, and thinks his actions are cute.

Kakitsubata launched the manga in Kadokawa's josei magazine Monthly Comic Gene in June 2013, and the manga's compiled book volumes have over 480,000 copies in print. Animate is selling the seventh compiled book volume with a bonus reproduction mini shikishi sketch:

The manga is also on the pixiv service, where it has garnered over 11 million views. Frontier Works and Kadokawa Media Factory released a drama CD last December with Jun Fukuyama as Akkun and Aoi Yūki as Nontan.
