Dagashi Kashi 2 Anime Premieres on January 11, Casts Tomokazu Sugita

The second 2018 issue of Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine will reveal on Wednesday that the Dagashi Kashi 2 anime will premiere on TBS on January 11 at 2:28 a.m. (effectively January 12 morning), followed by Sun TV on January 12 at 11:30 p.m., and BS-TBS on January 13 at 1:30 a.m. (effectively January 14 morning).

In addition, it revealed that Tomokazu Sugita will play the character Yutaka Beni.

Satoshi Kuwabara (Dr. Pinoko no Mori no Bōken, Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal) is directing the anime at Tezuka Productions, replacing director Shigehito Takayanagi. feel., the previous studio that handled the first season, is now credited with setting cooperation. Mayumi Morita is replacing Takayanagi and Yasuko Kamo in series composition. Nana Miura (Young Black Jack) is replacing Kanetoshi Kamimoto for the character designs. Satoshi Motoyama is returning as sound director. Michiko Yokote (Cowboy Bebop, Gintama) is writing the scripts, and Nobuaki Nobusawa (returning from the first season) and Tomohata Ohsumi are composing the music.

Ayana Taketatsu will perform the opening theme song "Oh My Sugar Feeling!!" for the show. Taketatsu plays Hotaru in the anime and previously performed the first season's ending theme. Seven-member idol group Hachimitsu Rocket will perform the ending theme song "Okashi na Watashi to Hachimitsu no Kimi" (The Candied Me and the Honeyed You).

Kokonotsu “Coconuts” Shikada dreams of becoming a famous manga artist. The only problem—he's terrible. His real talent is selling the complex and delicious snacks in his father's “dagashi” shop. He never thought much about the family business until the trendy, eccentric Hotaru showed up. As a lover of “dagashi,” she can't let his talent go to waste and decides she won't stop 'til she's sold him on sweets.

The first 12-episode television anime series premiered in January 2016. Funimation streamed the series with subtitles as it aired in Japan, and also streamed an English dub. The company released the anime on DVD and Blu-ray Disc on April 18.
