m-flo Reunites With Singer LISA After 15 Years

LISA left group in 2002

The official Twitter account for the hip hop group m-flo revealed last Friday that the group has reunited with its former member LISA, 15 years after she left the group due to creative differences in 2002.

m-flo began when friends Verbal and Taku Takahashi met LISA and launched the group in 1998. Since then, the group has released eight studio albums, with six of those produced after LISA's departure in 2002. The group's latest album, Future is Wow, shipped in 2014. The group is known for its collaboration with other artists, such as Namie Amuro, Bonnie Pink, and Heartsdales.

Before meeting Verbal and Taku Takahashi, LISA had already been releasing music with Avex Group, and is perhaps best known for her 1994 "Sea of the Stars" single, which served as the third opening theme song for The Legend of the Galactic Heroes anime series. After parting with m-flo, LISA pursued a solo career again, releasing 12 singles and 10 albums. She has also written music for Kumi Koda, Heartsdales, and other singers and groups.

m-flo performed the second opening theme song for the 2003 Astro Boy anime, and also provided the music for the Amazing Nuts! anime, and the Appleseed: Ex Machina film.

m-flo released the UNIVERSE compilation album on iTunes, Spotify, and LINE MUSIC on Wednesday. The album features 150 songs from the group's eight albums and best-of albums.
