Sentai Filmworks Licenses Hakumei and Mikochi Anime for HIDIVE Streaming

posted on by Karen Ressler
Anime premieres January 12 in Japan

Sentai Filmworks announced on Wednesday that it has licensed the television anime adaptation of Takuto Kashiki's Hakumei to Mikochi: Tiny little life in the woods manga under the title Hakumei and Mikochi and will stream it this winter on HIDIVE. The company is also planning a home video release.

Sentai Filmworks describes the story:

While Hakumei is cheerful, outgoing and prefers to be outside, Mikochi is more introverted and prefers to stay indoors. These differences will set the tone for their friendship. Riding on insects and birds, creating tools from the forest and living their normal lives, they'll show us how day to day chores can be the biggest adventure in a small world full of wonders.

The anime will premiere in Japan on AT-X on January 12 at 9:00 p.m. In addition, the series will air on Tokyo MX, Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, TV Aichi, TVQ Kyushu Broadcasting Co., Ltd. and BS11. The anime will stream in Japan exclusively on Amazon Prime.

Masaomi Andō (School-Live!, Scum's Wish, Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle) is directing the series at studio Lerche. Reiko Yoshida (Violet Evergarden, Tamako Market, Non Non Biyori) is handling the series composition, and Tomoko Iwasa (Kasimasi - Girl Meets Girl, Junod) is both the character designer and prop designer. Iwasa is also the chief animation director alongside Mayuka Itou (Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle). KUSANAGI is handling the background art. Evan Call (Violet Evergarden, Chronos Ruler, Big Order) is composing the music at Lantis. Yūji Higa is the animation producer.

Chima will perform the opening theme song "urar." Cast members Shino Shimoji and Aoi Yūki will perform the ending theme song "Harvest Moon Night."
