Thunderbolt Fantasy Gets Takarazuka Revue Stage Play

The official website for the Thunderbolt Fantasy puppet-show project announced on Tuesday that the all-female Takarazuka Revue troupe's Star Group will perform a stage play based on Thunderbolt Fantasy beginning in August 2018 in Japan and Taiwan. The performance will star Yuzuru Kurenai and Airi Kisaki. Naoko Koyanagi is directing and writing the script.
The play will run from August 31 to September 6, 2018 at the Umeda Arts Theater Main Hall in Osaka, and then from September 13-24 at the Nippon Youth Center Hall in Tokyo. In Taiwan, the play will run from October 20-28 in Taipei and November 2-5 in Kaohsiung.
A second season of the original Thunderbolt Fantasy series is green-lit for 2018. The first 13-episode series premiered in July 2016 in Japan, and Crunchyroll streamed the series outside of Asia.
Thunderbolt Fantasy Shōshi Ikken, a film adaptation of the "Satsumushō-hen" (Shā Wú Shēng Chapter) story from the Thunderbolt Fantasy: Tōriken Kōki Gaiden (Thunderbolt Fantasy Side Story) began screening in Japan on December 2. Nitroplus published the novel in April. The film also adapted a new story about "Shōfukan" (Shāng Bù Huàn) written by Gen Urobuchi.
