New "Touken Danshi" debut in 8th episode on Sunday

The official website for the Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru anime revealed three new "Touken Danshi" characters and cast members for Zoku Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru., the series' second season, on Monday. The characters will debut in the the season's eighth episode, "Hazuki Kono Koto wa HImitsu Dakara na" (Eighth Month: Because These Things are Secret), on February 25.

Masahiro Yamanaka as Kikō Sadamune

Junichi Suwabe as Sengo Muramasa

Yūki Ono as Ōkane Hira

Yamanaka and Suwabe will perform the ending theme song "Ittsui Hibana, Himegoto ni Fure" (A Pair of Sparks, Touch in Secret) as their characters. Similar to the anime's first season, the second season has a different ending theme song for each episode. All of the "Touken Danshi" characters have guest vocals in the opening theme song beginning with the second episode.

The anime premiered in Japan on Tokyo MX and BS11 at midnight on January 7 (effectively January 8), before airing later in the night on Kansai TV. The anime also began streaming on DMM.com on January 8. Crunchyroll and Funimation are streaming the series as it airs.

The new season again follows a format where each episode is named after months of the year. The first episode, titled "First Month: I Must Get Stronger," follows the "Touken Danshi" as they plan to celebrate New Year's Eve like normal people.

Tomoaki Koshida (episode director on Polar Bear's Café, Wagnaria!!3) replaces Takashi Naoya as the director, and the writing collective WriteWorks (Record of Grancrest War; production cooperation on Kizumonogatari, Tsukimonogatari) replaces Pierre Sugiura as the series script supervisors. Junichirō Taniguchi (Natsuyuki Rendezvous, Prison School) is returning to design the characters, and Doga Kobo will continue to animate for the new season.

The first season of Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru premiered in October 2016, and had 12 episodes. Crunchyroll streamed the season as it aired in Japan, and Funimation streamed an English broadcast dub.
