Adaptation of light novel series entered final arc in December

Kadokawa's Comic Newtype website revealed on Tuesday that Kiyo Kyujyō's manga adaptation of Sunao Yoshida's Trinity Blood light novel series will conclude in the next chapter on April 24. The manga had entered its final arc in December.

The novels began as a one-shot in Kadokawa's The Sneaker in October 1999 and launched as a serialized novel in February 2000. The title consists of two six-volume series illustrated by THORES Shibamoto: Trinity Blood: Rage Against the Moons and Trinity Blood: Reborn on the Mars. The final volume of Rage Against the Moons was published after Yoshida passed away in 2004.

The manga adaptation, which has been running in Kadokawa's Monthly Asuka magazine, had its first compiled volume release in 2004. The manga also began publication on Kadokawa's Comic Newtype website in November 2016. Kadokawa published the manga's 20th compiled volume in April 2017.

Tokyopop and later Viz Media licensed the manga. Tokyopop also published part of both novel series in English.

Viz Media describes the manga's story:

In a dark and distant future, Armageddon has given rise to the fabled Second Moon – and a perpetual war between the vampires and the humans! Esther is a nun in the city of Istavan. When she crosses paths with Abel Nightroad, a priest sent from the Vatican to combat the local order of vampires, the pair forms a holy alliance to battle the most evil of threats

The novels also inspired a television anime adaptation from GONZO in 2005. FUNimation Entertainment released the series on home video with an English dub. The anime is available streaming on Funimation's website and on Crunchyroll.
