Illinois convention runs May 18 - 20

The Anime Central convention announced last week that it will host animators Mamoru Yokota and Takahiro Yoshimatsu as guests at this year's event.

Yokota debuted as a character designer on Louie the Rune Soldier, and then drew original character designs for Magical Kanan, Bizarre Cage, and Angelium. He has also worked as an animator or animation supervisor on such anime as DNA², Death Note, Naruto Shippūden, Macross Frontier, Star Blazers 2199, and Gatchaman Crowds. In addition to his work as an animator, he served as producer on Air and Kanon. He also served as both director and animation director for the opening animation for the Blazblue: Continuum Shift II game.

Yoshimatsu has worked as a key animator or animation director on numerous titles, including Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Black Cat. He has designed characters for Trigun, Ninja Scroll, Hunter x Hunter 2011, Atom The Beginning, Overlord, A Place Further Than the Universe, and several of the Slayers films. He has also published manga under the name "Something Yoshimatsu."

Anime Central will be Yoshimatsu's first visit to Illinois.

Anime Central will take place in Rosemont, Illinois from May 18-20. The convention will also host Monogatari novel series illustrator VOFAN, Deadman Wonderland manga creators Jinsei Kataoka and Kazuma Kondou, and voice actress Kikuko Inoue. It will also host manga creator Kenichi Sonoda, animation director and producer Shuzilow.HA, and composer Marco D'Ambrosio for a reveal of Sonoda's new "Project [B.B]" anime (previously listed as a Gunsmith Cats reboot short).
