California convention to be held May 25-28

Northern California anime convention FanimeCon announced on Tuesday that musician and producer Yuyoyuppe will attend this year's event. The convention also announced last Friday that animation director and character designer Chikashi Kubota will attend.

Yuyoyuppe formed a band in his native Ibaraki and later debuted as a Vocaloid producer. He then debuted under Yamaha Music in 2012. He is currently sound producer and formal remixer for Babymetal and vocalist for the rock band Grilled Meat Youngmans. In addition, Yuyoyuppe has arranged music such as Momoiro Clover Z's ending theme song "'Z' no Chikai" for Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' and Smith with MON's ending theme song "Hey! Smith!!" for Monster Musume.

Kubota began his career as an animator at Xebec and later transferred to Gainax. After working as an original designer and art director, he now focuses on character design. Kubota served as animation director for anime such as One-Punch Man, Space Dandy, and From the New World. He is currently working as character designer for FLCL Progressive, the FLCL sequel television anime, which will premiere on June 2.

Acclaimed composer Joe Hisaishi (Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke) will conduct a concert at the event, hosted in collaboration with Symphony Silicon Valley, that will feature his music for Studio Ghibli films. The concert will be held daily from May 25-28 at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts.

FanimeCon 2018 will be held from May 25-28 at the San Jose Convention Center. Bilingual singer nano, voice actress Satomi Satou, voice actor Ryōtarō Okiayu, and author Gilles Poitras will also attend the event.
