Mirai of the Future, Okko's Inn Anime Films to Screen In Competition at Annecy

Liz and the Blue Bird, Maquia films to screen out of competition

The Annecy International Animation Film Festival announced on Monday the official selection of films that will be screened in and out of competition during the event.

Mamoru Hosoda and Studio Chizu's Mirai (Mirai of the Future or Mirai no Mirai) and Kitarō Kōsaka and DLE/Madhouse's Okko's Inn (Waka Okami wa Shōgakusei!) films will screen in competition. Naoko Yamada and Kyoto Animation's Liz and the Blue Bird and Mari Okada and P.A. Works' Maquia - When the Promised Flower Blooms films will screen out of competition.

Established in 1960, Annecy is the world's oldest and largest animation film festival. This year, it runs from June 11-16 at the French community of the same name.

B: The Beginning and PIG: The Dam Keeper Poems "Yellow Flower", "Hello Nice to Meet You" will compete in the TV Films category. In the Short Films category, Ryoji Yamada's "Hunter" short film is screening in competition. Yosuke Tani's "Kaiju Shinwa" ("Quest of the Battling Gods") animated short will compete in the Graduation Short Film category. No Japanese works are competing in the Off-Limits Short Films, Perspectives Short Films, Young Audiences Short Films, and Commissioned Films categories.

This year's Annecy International Film Festival will be held from June 11-16 in Annecy, France.
