Asuka's current issue features stories not yet compiled in book volumes

The June issue of Kadokawa's Monthly Asuka magazine revealed on Tuesday that Yukiru Sugisaki's D.N.Angel manga will return in the magazine's July issue on May 24. The July issue will have D.N.Angel for its cover art, and it will also publish a color opening page for the manga.

The June issue unveiled the below illustration by Sugisaki to commemorate the manga's return, and also featured the "STAGE4 VOL.13" and "STAGE4 VOL.14" stories that have not yet appeared in the manga's compiled book volumes.

The original manga's story centers on a 14-year-old boy named Daisuke Niwa who tries to declare his love to the girl of his dreams but fails. Instead, whenever he thinks about the girl, he transforms into the legendary phantom thief known as Dark Mousy.

Sugisaka launched the manga in the magazine in 1997. The series went on hiatus in 2005 and returned in 2008, but Sugisaka did not conclude the story. Kadokawa released the manga's 15th compiled book volume in 2011. Tokyopop published the manga's first 13 volumes in North America.

Xebec studio adapted D.N.Angel into a television anime series in 2003, and A.D. Vision and Discotek Media released the anime in North America.

Sugisaki launched the 1001 Knights manga in Monthly Asuka in 2012 and ended it this past September. Sugisaki's Lagoon Engine manga was also published by Asuka magazine and Tokyopop, and its spinoff, Lagoon Engine Einsatz, ran in A.D. Vision's Newtype USA magazine.
