Kinji Yoshimoto replaces Jun Kamiya as director for series premiering in 2019

The official website for the television anime adaptation of Ryo Shirakome's Arifureta - From Commonplace to World's Strongest (Arifureta Shokugyō de Sekai Saikyō) light novel series revealed the show's new visual and a new main staff on Sunday.

Kinji Yoshimoto (Unbreakable Machine-Doll, Seven Mortal Sins, Genshiken 2) is now directing the anime at WHITE FOX and asread. Chika Kojima (Big Order) is now the new character designer to adapt Takayaki's original designs for animation.

The series was originally slated to premiere in April, but will now premiere in 2019.

Jun Kamiya (Kingdom) was originally slated to direct the series at WHITE FOX, with Atsuo Tobe (Kingdom) as character designer. Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Is the order a rabbit?) was originally in charge of the series scripts, but is no longer listed as working on the project

The anime stars Toshinari Fukamachi as Hajime Nagumo, Yūki Kuwahara as Yue, and Minami Takahashi as Shea.

J-Novel Club releases the light novel series in English digitally, and it describes the story:

Seventeen year old Hajime Nagumo is your average, everyday otaku. However, his simple life of pulling all-nighters and sleeping in school is suddenly turned upside down when he, along with the rest of his class, is summoned to a fantasy world! They're treated like heroes and tasked with the duty of saving the human race from utter extinction. But what should have been any otaku's wet dream quickly turns into Hajime's nightmare. While the rest of his class are blessed with godlike powers, Hajime's job, Synergist, only has a single transmutation skill. Ridiculed and bullied by his classmates for being weak, he soon finds himself in despair. Will he be able to survive in this dangerous world of monsters and demons with only a glorified blacksmith's level of strength?

J-Novel Club is also publishing Shirakome's prequel spinoff novel series Arifureta Zero. Seven Seas began publishing the manga adaptation of the main series in print in English in March.

Shirakome launched the novel series in Japan in June 2015 under the OVERLAP Bunko label, with illustrations by Takayaki, after initially presenting it on the user-submission site Shōsetsu ni Narō. OVERLAP published the novel series' eighth volume on April 25.

Artist RoGa launched an ongoing manga adaptation in 2016 on Comic Gardo, OVERLAP's online manga site. OVERLAP published the manga's third compiled book volume on April 25. A manga adaptation of the Arifureta Zero spinoff novel series launched on Comic Gardo on February 23.
