9 main leads sing opening theme

The official Twitter account for Bushiroad and Nelke Planning's Shōjo☆Kageki Revue Starlight franchise announced the singers for the upcoming television anime's opening theme song, as well as the anime's July 12 premiere date, on Sunday. The production also listed additional staff members.

The nine main characters of the anime (as voiced by their respective cast members) are singing the opening theme song "Hoshi no Dialogue" (Stellar Dialogue) under the unit name "Starlight Kukugumi" (Starlight Group 99). The song's CD single will ship on July 18, and it will include an entry form for advance tickets to one of five performances of the new stage production Shōjo☆Kageki Revue Starlight -The LIVE- from October 19 to October 21.

The series will premiere on TBS on July 12 at 25:28 (effectively, July 13 at 1:28 a.m.), and then will run on the CBC, BS-TBS, MBS, and RKB channels. To celebrate the project's first anniversary, the staff will give away 14 gift sets (including tin badges, acrylic key holders, and bromide photo cards) to people who follow and retweet the anime's campaign Twitter post by May 7.

Takushi Koide is serving as assistant director. Takeshi Takakura and Shiori Tani are designing the props, and Yuto Hama and Mao Yamaguchi are designing the graphics. Chie Yoshimura is the color key artist, and Kentaro Akiyama and Kenji Fukuda (Studio Pablo) are directing the art.

Hisashi Akimoto (T2studio) is directing the 3D, and Hisayasu Kamiya is in charge of the 3D set lighting. Kazuto Izumida (T2studio) is directing the photography, and Masayuki Kurosawa is editing. Yō Yamada is directing the sound, and Yoshiaki Fujisawa and Tatsuya Katō are composing the music. Kanata Nakamura is writing the in-story play script and song lyrics.

As previously announced, Tomohiro Furukawa (unit director for Yurikuma Arashi, Brothers Conflict) is directing the anime at Kinema Citrus. Tatsuto Higuchi (CROSS ANGE Rondo of Angel and Dragon, Schwarzes Marken) is in charge of the the series scripts, and Hiroyuki Saita (Kumamiko - Girl meets Bear, My mental choices are completely interfering with my school romantic comedy) is designing the characters.

The project stars:

Momoyo Koyama as Karen Aijō

Suzuko Mimori as Hikari Kagura

Maho Tomita as Maya Tendō

Hinata Satō as Junna Hoshimi

Haruki Iwata as Mahiru Tsuyuzaki

Moeka Koizumi as Nana Daiba

Aina Aiba as Claudine Saijō

Teru Ikuta as Futaba Isuruzaki

Ayasa Itō as Kaoruko Hanayagi

The franchise centers on "Starlight" — the song and dance revue troupe loved throughout the world. Karen and Hikari make a promise with each other when they're young that one day they'll stand on that stage together. Time passes, and now the girls are 16 years old. Karen is very enthusiastic about the lessons she takes every day, holding her promise close to her heart. Hikari has transferred schools and is now away from Karen. But the cogs of fate turn, and the two are destined to meet again. The girls and other "Stage Girls" will compete in a mysterious audition process to gain acceptance into the revue.

The franchise launched two manga that are running simultaneously in Monthly Bushiroad magazine on January 6. One of them is a four-panel manga with super-deformed characters. Sora Goto and Kanata Nakamura also launched the Shōjo☆Kageki Revue Starlight Overture manga in Kadokawa's Dengeki G's Comic magazine on January 30.

Bushiroad announced the franchise in April 2017 with a stage musical and television anime project. The musical Shōjo☆Kageki Revue Starlight The LIVE, billed as a "2.5 dimension musical and live concert," ran in Tokyo from September 22-24. It featured the same cast as the planned anime.
