Attack on Titan: Junior High Manga Gets 3 New Chapters

New chapters of Attack on Titan comedy spinoff debut in June-August

The June issue of Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine announced on Wednesday that Saki Nakagawa's Attack on Titan: Junior High manga will get three new chapters beginning with the magazine's next issue in June, and continuing to July and August. The chapters will have color opening pages. The "Shingeki! Kyojin Kōkō" (Attack on Titan: High School) manga will tell the story of the neighboring Marley Academy.

Nakagawa launched the comedy manga in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in April 2012, and ended it in July 2016. The manga re-imagines Eren, Mikasa, Armin, and other cast members from Hajime Isayama's original Attack on Titan manga as students and teachers at Titan Junior High School. Kodansha released the manga's 11th and final compiled volume in Japan in August 2016.

Kodansha Comics is releasing the manga in English, and it published the fifth compiled volume last December.

The manga inspired a 12-episode anime adaptation that premiered in October 2015, and Funimation streamed the series as it aired in Japan.

The third season of the Attack on Titan anime based on Isayama's original manga will premiere on July 22 at 24:35 (effectively July 23 at 12:45 a.m.) on NHK (the show will air at 25:15 in the Kansai region).
