Metal Gear Concert Gets New Performances in Tokyo, Los Angeles, New York, Paris

posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Orchestra concerts debut in Tokyo in July, continue in West in October

The official website for the "Metal Gear in Concert" orchestra concerts revealed on Thursday that new performances will be held at Tokyo Bunka Kaikan on July 7, at Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles on October 10, at United Palace Theatre in New York on October 13, and at Palais des Congrès in Paris on October 28. The website also began streaming a promotional video for the new performances.

The concerts will feature the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, which consists of more than 80 members, and Donna Burke will perform as a guest singer. HD video from the games will be projected on a screen above the stage and synchronize with the orchestra's music. Orchestral pieces will include "Main Theme," "Encounter," and "Father and Son," and songs performed by Burke will include "The Best is Yet to Come," "Snake Eater," and "Havens Divide." Hirofumi Kuria will conduct the performances.

People who purchase S or A tickets for the Tokyo performance can enter a prize lottery to receive an exclusive flashlight. Tickets went on sale on Thursday.

The concert series debuted in Osaka in July 2017 and ran in Tokyo in August. Australian composer Nicholas Buc handled the arrangement of the tracks and served as the conductor. Burke also performed during the first series.

As of March 2017, the Metal Gear franchise has sold more than 51.3 million copies worldwide.

Series creator Hideo Kojima's last Metal Gear title with Konami, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, shipped for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC in September 2015. Konami sold more than six million copies of the game.

Metal Gear Survive is the first Metal Gear console game to be announced since Kojima's departure from Konami. The game shipped in Japan, North America, and Europe in February.
