Bandai Namco's Next Brand-New Tales of RPG Being Developed for Consoles

The Tales of Festival 2018 event (pictured below) announced on Sunday that the latest brand-new entry in Bandai Namco Entertainment's Tales of role-playing game franchise is being developed for home or portable game consoles. The new entry is not a remake or spinoff of a previous entry. It has been two years since the last brand-new entry, Tales of Berseria, shipped in August 2016 (after being announced at Tales of Festival 2015 in June 2015).

(The Japanese term for "home game console" refers to both consoles that need an external display and portable game systems with built-in screens. The term specifically excludes smartphones and general-purpose tablets.)

Sunday's event also announced that Bandai Namco is celebrating Tales of Vesperia with a "10th Anniversary Party" on September 16 at the Maihama Amphitheater in Chiba Prefecture. The Animate Cafe chain's second Ikebukuro branch in Tokyo and Nagoya branch will hold collaboration cafe campaigns from August 7 to September 11.

The indoor Sanrio Puroland theme park will host the "Tales of After Festival 2018" campaign from July 21 to August 5. As in previous years, the campaign has new illustrations of popular Tales of characters with Sanrio icons, as well as exclusive food menu items and character goods.

Bandai Namco announced at Microsoft's E3 2018 press conference last Sunday that it is releasing Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition, a remastered version of its Tales of Vesperia role-playing game, on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam this winter. The Tales of Festival 2018 event also announced on Saturday that Tales of the Rays Gekijō (Tales of the Rays Theater), the half-hour web gag anime spinoff of the Tales of the Rays smartphone game, will loop in a July 20-21 marathon on the Niconico Live service.
