Director Takuya Satō, producer Yūsuke Terada to attend

The official website for Anime Expo announced on Tuesday that Pony Canyon will host the U.S. premiere of Kase-san and Morning Glories at Anime Expo on Sunday, July 8. Director Takuya Satō and producer Yūsuke Terada will attend the screening.

The original video anime of Hiromi Takashima's Kase-san and Morning Glories (Asagao to Kase-san.) manga debuted in Japan on June 9 in theaters. The manga follows a romance between "the clumsy, flower-adoring Yamada and the exuberant Kase-san, their school's track and field star."

The anime's staff is mostly the same as the staff who worked on the five-minute animated clip of the manga that debuted in May 2017. Kazuyuki Hashimoto (Cowboy Bebop, Summer Wars, Mai Mai Miracle) replaced Yuka Hirama as art director, with Hirama now credited for concept boards. rionos is credited for music. Yui Yamada (as voiced by Minami Takahashi) and Tomoka Kase (Ayane Sakura) performed the anime's theme song "Asu e no Tobira" (Door to Tomorrow). The song is a cover of the 2003 song of the same name by I WiSH.

Takashima serialized Kase-san and... in Shinshokan's yuri manga anthology Hirari until the magazine ceased publication in 2014. The series is ongoing on Shinshokan's Web Wings online manga platform. The manga began serializing in the LINE Manga app in March.

Shinshokan published Kase-san and Morning Glories (Asagao to Kase-san.) in 2012, followed by Obentō to Kase-san. (Kase-san and Bento) in 2012, Shortcake to Kase-san. (Kase-san and Shortcake) in 2015, and Apron to Kase-san. (Kase-san and an Apron) last July. The latest volume of the manga, Sakura to Kase-san, shipped in May in a special edition with a newly recorded drama CD. Seven Seas Entertainment is releasing the manga in North America.
