Shojo Kageki Revue Starlight Franchise Gets Smartphone Game

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Anime in franchise premieres on July 12

The official website for Bushiroad and Nelke Planning's Shōjo Kageki Revue Starlight franchise revealed on Saturday that the franchise is getting a smartphone game titled Shōjo Kageki Revue Starlight -Re LIVE-. Ateam is developing the game. Bushiroad will reveal more details about the game during a livestream event on Monday.

The franchise centers on "Starlight" — the song and dance revue troupe loved throughout the world. Karen and Hikari make a promise with each other when they're young that one day they'll stand on that stage together. Time passes, and now the girls are 16 years old. Karen is very enthusiastic about the lessons she takes every day, holding her promise close to her heart. Hikari has transferred schools and is now away from Karen. But the cogs of fate turn, and the two are destined to meet again. The girls and other "Stage Girls" will compete in a mysterious audition process to gain acceptance into the revue.

An anime series will premiere on TBS on July 12 at 25:28 (effectively, July 13 at 1:28 a.m.), and then will run on the CBC, BS-TBS, MBS, and RKB channels.

Tomohiro Furukawa (unit director for Yuri Kuma Arashi, Brothers Conflict) is directing the anime at Kinema Citrus. Tatsuto Higuchi (CROSS ANGE Rondo of Angel and Dragon, Schwarzes Marken) is in charge of the the series scripts, and Hiroyuki Saita (Kuma Miko: Girl Meets Bear, My mental choices are completely interfering with my school romantic comedy) is designing the characters.

The nine main characters of the anime (as voiced by their respective cast members) are singing the opening theme song "Hoshi no Dialogue" (Stellar Dialogue) and the ending theme song "Fly Me to the Star" under the unit name "Starlight Kukugumi" (Starlight Group 99).

The franchise also includes a series of stage plays.
