Sengoku Basara Gets New Manga, 2 New Stage Plays

Manga by Satsuki Urushiji debuts in September, 2 stage plays debut in December

CAPCOM announced on Saturday that its Sengoku Basara franchise will get a new manga and two new stage productions.

The manga by Satsuki Urushiji is titled Sengoku Basara -Sarutobi Sasuke Eininden- (Sengoku Basara -Sarutobi Sasuke Hidden Shadow Chronicle-, visual pictured right), and will debut in the October issue of Square Enix's Monthly Big Gangan magazine on September 25.

The first stage play, titled Sengoku Basara - Sōkō Ransei "Kurenai" Mirai e no Hokori (Sengoku Basara - A Turbulent World of Azure and Crimson "Crimson" Pride Toward the Future), will run at the Alternative Theater in Tokyo from December 7 to 16. The second stage play, titled Sengoku Basara - Sōkō Ransei "Ao" THE PRIDE (Sengoku Basara - A Turbulent World of Azure and Crimson "Azure" THE PRIDE), will run at the Alternative Theater from December 21 to 30.

The cast for Sengoku Basara - Sōkō Ransei "Kurenai" Mirai e no Hokori includes:

Kōji Okino and Shūto Mashima will also appear in a video.

The cast for Sengoku Basara - Sōkō Ransei "Ao" THE PRIDE includes:

  • Shūto Mashima as Date Masamune
  • Kōji Okino as Ishida Mitsunari
  • Tatsuya Isaka as Keiji Maeda
  • Tatsumaru Tachibana as Yamanaka Yukimori
  • Airu Shiozaki as Goto Mototsugu
  • Takeshi Terayama as Mogami Yoshiaki
  • Takuma Sueno as Takenaka Shigeharu
  • Takao Sasaki as Toyotomi Hideyoshi

Ryūnosuke Matsumura and Kenya Nakao will also appear in a video.

Jun Yoriko is directing and scripting both stage plays.

CAPCOM's Sengoku Basara franchise already inspired three television anime series, one anime movie, a live-action series with two compilation films, and several stage plays.

A television anime adaptation of Gakuen Basara, a high school spinoff project based on the game franchise, is slated to premiere on TBS on October 4 and then on BS-TBS on October 6.
