Princess Jellyfish's Akiko Higashimura Launches New Manga in October

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Manga centers on 3 women from different generations

The September issue of Kodansha's Kiss magazine announced on Wednesday that manga creator Akiko Higashimura will launch a new manga in the magazine's December issue on October 25. The magazine did not reveal the title or the story of the manga, but showed the character Tara and Reba (seen right) from her Tarare-Bar spinoff manga. The characters hinted that the new manga will center on three women from different generations, but will focus on the theme of "money and romance for modern women."

Higashimura recently ended her Tokyo Tarareba Girls and Princess Jellyfish manga in April and August last year, respectively. Tokyo Tarareba Girls inspired a live-action television series that aired in January to March 2017. Kodansha Comics is releasing the manga digitally and in print in English.

Crunchyroll published the Princess Jellyfish manga digitally and Kodansha Comics debuted the series in English in print in February 2016. The manga inspired a 2010 television anime series that Funimation released in North America and a 2014 live-action film. The manga was nominated for an Eisner Award last year. The manga also inspired a new live-action series in January.

Higashimura recently launched a new color manga titled Gisō Furin (Disguised Adultery) on the XOY manga site last December. She resumed her historical Yukibana no Tora manga in January. She also launched a new manga titled Hypermedy Nakajima Haruko based on Mariko based on Hayashi's Saikō no Obahan Nakajima Haruko no Renai Sōdanshitsu (The Best Middle-Aged Woman Haruko Nakajima's Love Consultation Room) book on June 28.
